a woman started talking to me out today on a bus ride. a complete stranger spoke to me as if we knew each other. her presence reminded me of my mother. we conversed on a society of individuals all searching for a balance between personal happiness, independence, priorities and responsibility. we accepted that some are mislead. we agreed that everyone needs a distinctive mix of the above to achieve happiness.
somewhere in our discussion, she got me to say something i'm not sure i believe but something quite comforting nonetheless:
"by changing ourselves we change the world"
by degree i suppose. we change through others and our conduct influences others so if we change our conduct we change others (sociopaths and autistics excluded) and by changing others the world is changed.
upon my departure the woman wished me peace (impressive for a mid-thirties woman with 3 degrees. . . we had a little discovery period where we got each other's background and family status). she told me i had old eyes.
what intensity lay in her imagining my eyes?
i met with an elderly woman a fews days ago at the request of a friend. the lady cannot leave her house so I visited her, behaved admirably (no cursing or lewdness), played cards and made her laugh. it pleased me. i think i'll see her again.
